Tropic Marin® Phytonic – High-Concentration Liquid Phytoplankton
Experience the power of the reef’s foundation in a bottle. Tropic Marin® Phytonic is a premium liquid plankton substitute designed to provide filter-feeding invertebrates with the essential amino acids, highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFAs), and vitamins they need to thrive.
Unlike many other plankton products, Phytonic is "canned" using a specialized cold-processing method. By avoiding heat, Tropic Marin ensures that every delicate vitamin and vital substance remains biologically active, providing a complete food source that mimics natural marine microalgae.
Highly Concentrated Complete Nutrition
-
Cold-Processed Purity: All nutrients are preserved in their most potent form, ensuring your corals receive the highest quality vitamins and lipids.
-
Broad-Spectrum Feeding: The blend of marine microalgae and specialized yeast makes it an ideal food for Soft Corals, LPS, SPS, and other filter feeders like sponges and tunicates.
-
Liquid Precision: The liquid format allows for even distribution throughout the water column, reaching even the most hidden polyps.
-
Rich in Amino Acids: Promotes rapid tissue repair and growth in stony corals.
Application & Dosage Guide
Note: Shake the bottle well before every use.
-
Starting Dose: Begin with 0.1 ml per 100 L of aquarium volume daily.
-
Adjustment: Increase the quantity gradually based on your corals' response and the tank's nutrient levels.
-
Maximum Dose: Do not exceed 0.5 ml per 100 L per day.
-
Best Practice: Add the dose into a high-flow area (near a pump) several times a day to ensure the best possible distribution.
Bottle Instructions:
-
50 ml Bottle: Uses a specialized syringe and tube. The air in the tube does not affect the dose; the lower edge of the piston indicates the correct amount.
-
250 ml Bottle: Uses a pump head. 1 Press = 1 ml.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does Tropic Marin Phytonic need to be refrigerated?
While it can be stored in a cool, dark place, refrigeration is highly recommended after opening. Cooling significantly prolongs the storage life and maintains the integrity of the fatty acids and vitamins.
Will Phytonic affect my Oxygen levels?
Because Phytonic is a concentrated organic food, it stimulates bacterial activity which consumes oxygen. This is why the maximum dose of 0.5ml per 100L should not be exceeded, and you should reduce other carbon-dosing products (like Elimi-NP) if you notice any respiratory stress in fish.
Can I use this in a tank without a protein skimmer?
Yes, but you must be more cautious with the dosage. Without a skimmer to export uneaten particles, nutrients (NO_3/PO_4) can rise more quickly. Monitor your levels closely.
How does Phytonic differ from Phyton (the powder)?
Phytonic is the liquid, concentrated version. It is generally easier to dose via automated systems and, due to the cold-processing, can sometimes offer a higher concentration of heat-sensitive vitamins compared to the powdered version.
Is it safe for non-photosynthetic (NPS) corals?
Absolutely. Phytonic is an excellent primary food source for NPS corals (like Sun Corals or Sea Fans) that require frequent, high-quality particulate feeding.

⭐ The "Filter Feeder" Ultimate Setup
Maximize capture rates! Pair Tropic Marin Phytonic with Tropic Marin Reef Snow. By mixing the liquid Phytonic into the Reef Snow solution, you create visible "flakes" of phytoplankton that are much easier for larger LPS corals and Gorgonians to capture, reducing waste and increasing growth.
