Starting Dose: Begin with 0.1 ml per 100 L (approx. 26 US gal) of aquarium volume daily.
Adding to the Tank: To ensure every coral gets a meal, add the dose directly into the flow of a powerhead or return pump.
Maximum Dose: Do not exceed 0.5 ml per 100 L per day.
Note: Because Zootonic is an organic food, it stimulates bacterial activity. If you are also carbon dosing (e.g., using Elimi-NP), monitor your oxygen levels and adjust accordingly.
What is the difference between Zootonic and Phytonic? Think of it as "Meat vs. Vegetables." Zootonic is zooplankton (crustacean-based), which is higher in protein and ideal for the growth of stony corals. Phytonic is phytoplankton (plant-based), which is ideal for soft corals, clams, and the base of the food web. For the best results, we recommend rotating both.
Does this product need to be kept in the fridge? While it can be stored in a cool, dark place, refrigeration after opening is highly recommended. It keeps the marine oils fresh and prevents the breakdown of essential vitamins.
Can I use Zootonic with an automatic dosing pump? Yes, but with caution. Because the product is highly concentrated and contains crustacean particles, it can settle in the dosing lines over time. We recommend using a dosing pump with a stirring function or shaking the container manually every few days.
Will it cloud my water? When dosed correctly, it should not cloud the water significantly. A slight temporary "haze" is normal as the particles disperse for the corals to capture. If the water remains cloudy, reduce the dosage.
